Our offer
You'll be amazed what can happen in a week or two
Every minute of every day you'll learn something new when you experience our world
of retail. To start with, you'll find out there's a lot more to running a supermarket
than meets the eye. And you'll soon see that with a company like Asda you can have
a fantastic career working with great people. You'll learn a lot about yourself
too, because every day for either one or two weeks you'll be part of a friendly
team in a fast moving business, working together to make life a little bit better
for millions of people. You'll be taken on an eye opening trip around an amazing
business. It could be the start of a lifelong journey at Asda.
Some of the things you'll experience:
A friendly welcome
The first thing you'll notice is just how friendly and helpful
everyone is in an Asda store, and how much is going on. Every day we'll take the
time to help you to get to know how we work and what you can expect from your role.
There are things you need to know, like the "10 Foot Rule". Sounds complicated,
but it's really very simple. If someone is within 10 feet of you, whether it's a
customer or a colleague, you should always give them a friendly "hello". It only
takes a second, but it makes for the friendly and warm atmosphere you'll find in
our stores.
Training Buddies
So next it's on to the shop floor, seeing how it all works with the help of a 'Training
Buddy' - a friendly colleague who will always be there to show you how to put theory
into practice. You'll get to know about customer service, promotions, merchandising
and sales - the real nuts and bolts of everyday life in a busy supermarket.
Huddles
Every day we have team 'huddles'. Sounds crazy? Not at all. It's our way of keeping
up to date on how we're doing, working as a team, and keeping us focused on what
we do best - keeping our customers happy!
Challenges
You'll soon be getting the hang of your role, helping us keep customers happy. For
example, you could be involved in a product promotion, merchandising and monitoring
stock levels. You'll gain knowledge of Health & Safety - so important in a business
that employs 170,000 people and serves millions of customers every day.
Feedback
Each day you'll meet up with your Section Leader or Department Manager to talk
through your day and how you're doing. This helps you to get the most out of your
time with us. And it helps us to make the whole experience as enjoyable as possible.
Community
With Asda, you're not just working in a store, you're also playing a part in the
local community. We pride ourselves on the role we play in making local communities
better places to live. So we encourage everyone to get involved.
Customers
At Asda you'll see what it really means to put the customer at the heart of everything
you do. It's something we all work our socks off to achieve - we put our customers
first every day.
