Work Experience

Work Experience is a vital part of your son/daughter's education. It's a great chance for young people to get a taste of a job and see what skills they're going to need for the world of work. It also helps to build self confidence and better communications skills.

We've always been one of the country's biggest supporters of Work Experience, and now we're even bigger. With the recession making life harder for young people, we're now offering 15,000 Work Experience placements.

For people who have left school and/or been unemployed for six months or more, they can still claim Job Seekers Allowance while having two weeks of valuable work experience.

Every minute of every day they'll learn something new when they experience our world of retail.

To start with, they'll find out there's a lot more to running a supermarket than meets the eye. And they'll soon see that with a company like Asda they can have a fantastic career working with great people. They'll learn a lot about themselves too, because every day for either one or two weeks they'll be part of a friendly team in a fast moving business, working together to make life a little bit better for millions of people. They'll be taken on an eye opening trip around an amazing business. It could be the start of a lifelong journey at Asda.

When they've successfully completed the programme they'll be given a Record of Achievement. It will give them a head start in gaining the respect of future employers, whether it's at Asda or elsewhere.
